Fireproofing Ceilings and Walls

How to Fire Proof Ceilings

The ceiling is one of the most important parts of a room when it comes to fire safety. It is the first line of defence against the spread of flames and smoke and can help to contain a fire until it can be extinguished. There are a variety of

Ceiling – an important element of passive fire protection in a building

The ceiling is no longer considered a structural element, but rather just another finished surface. It hides the floor underneath its roof structure and can contain liners along with supporting structures like hooks fixed to hangers or insulating material for added protection against fires. It is possible to attach the ceiling directly to the structure or hang it or have independent support. Fire protection ceilings can be placed horizontally into their compartments or into specific compartments.

Many materials can be used for ceiling construction, but some are more fire resistant than others. For example, concrete and metal are both highly effective at resisting the spread of fire, while wood is more vulnerable. In addition, ceiling designs can also play a role in fire safety. So if you’re looking for a way to give your home an extra layer of protection, fire-rated walls are
